Disaster Preparedness

For Families

The three PDF files are recent updates from the American Academy of Pediatrics in an ongoing effort to provide you with the necessary information to keep your children/families safe during a disaster.

The TIPP and FourSteps are 2 pages in length for easy copying and provide useful information for a disaster that may hit your area. The PDF "aapfrkfull" stands for AAP Family Readiness Kit and is 35 pages of comprehensive disaster preparation for families to include those with special health care needs.

Your health care provider will provide you the TIPP handout during a scheduled office visit and discuss any special needs that your child may require during disaster planning and afterwards to ensure his/her safety.

For Pediatricians

This PDF physician's disaster guide is compliments of Scott Needle, M.D. who many of you met in July during the USF Pediatric Disaster Preparedness meeting "Katrina-Lessons Learned, Are you Listening Tampa Bay".

This informative guide is drawn from the experience of many doctors, nurses and other health care providers who lived the lessons of Katrina.
