Child Development/Neurology Education
The Child Development/Neurology Clinic provides students in psychology, nursing, speech-language pathology, and medicine with the opportunity to observe and participate in clinical care of children ages 0-12 years. Students are provided with the opportunity to engage in multidisciplinary care as a part of their training.
Dr. Maria Gieron, the division's pediatric neurologist, also teaches medical students and residents in pediatrics, neurology and child psychiatry.
In January 2011, Dr. Armstrong and Dr. Ogg will launch an on-line 10-week training series entitled "Evidence-based interventions for infants and toddlers with challenging behaviors." This series was developed with American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) funding.
Dr. Jillian Williams and Alicia Truitt, ARNP, will offer a parent intervention curriculum for premature or high risk infants, which was also developed with ARRA funding.
Dr. Julia Ogg and Emily Shaffer have launched "DOCS for success" - a group parent training project focused on children 5-8 years old.
