Jennifer C. Takagishi, MD, FAAP

Jennifer Cohen Takagishi, MD was raised in New Hampshire and graduated from Wellesley College. Following 2 years working as a research technician at Massachusetts General Hospital, she attended the Tufts University School of Medicine, and completed her pediatric residency at the Duke University Medical Center. Following her training, she was Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at SUNY Downstate in Brooklyn, acting as an attending general pediatrician and division chief at the Long Island College Hospital (LICH). During that time, she also was the Director of Pediatric Undergraduate Medicine for LICH and taught medical students from St. George’s University School of Medicine in Grenada, West Indies. She was hired as a General Academic Pediatrician at USF, and became the Medical Director for Pediatrics at HealthPark. She has co-authored several case reports and articles on pediatric resident education, primarily focused on breastfeeding, advocacy, and the business of medicine. She was promoted to Associate Professor of Pediatrics in 2005. She is a current participant in the Academic Pediatric Association (APA)’s Educational Scholars Program, Community Cohort, studying the effects of linking pediatric residents with doulas to learn breastfeeding and cultural competency. In addition, she is the co-chair for APA’s Region VIII and is currently involved with the National Children’s Study.
