John I. Malone, M.D.
Dr. Malone joined the faculty at the University of South Florida in 1972 after completing his training at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. Dr. Malone served as co-director of Florida’s Camp for Children and Youth with Diabetes (FCCYD) from 1973 through 2007. In addition, he was co-director of the University of South Florida Diabetes Center from 1979 through 2008, and continues to serve as an advisor. He is a certified Diabetes Educator. Dr. Malone has served in many roles including Director of the Suncoast Regional PKU and Diabetes Programs, a member of the Florida Governor’s Diabetes Advisory Council, and President of the Southern Society for Pediatric Research to name a few. His primary scholarly interests are related to type 1 diabetes and metabolic diseases.

Scholarly Interests
Dr. Malone is an author of over 175 scientific publications and book chapters. He has been the recipient of numerous grants, particularly those related to type 1 diabetes in children.
