Laura Y. Haubner, M.D.
Dr. Haubner joined the faculty of the University of South Florida after completing her fellowship in neonatology in 2000. During her tenure at USF she has served in numerous and varied roles in the Department and at Tampa General Hospital. She participates in multi-disciplinary training for both the transport team and neonatal ECMO teams at TGH. She has served as both the ECMO medical director since 2000 and Neonatal Transport medical director since 2006. Dr. Haubner is very active in the teaching of residents and fellows, and has been the principal investigator of numerous clinical investigations.
Dr. Haubner is also the founder and Director of the Team Education and Multidisciplinary Simulation (TEAMS) Center adjacent to Tampa General Hospital. The center trains multi-disciplinary medical teams using crisis resource management principles. Simulation courses offered include Conflict Management in the Trauma Room, Team Training in the Delivery Room, and Management of the Difficult Airway.

Scholarly Activity
Dr. Haubner’s primary scholarly interests relate to the use of technology in medicine. She has been the principal investigator of numerous clinical investigations that relate to this field of study. More recently, she has a developed an expertise in the use of simulation technology to train health care professionals. She is especially interested in identifying key behavioral skills that are essential to the teamwork that is necessary for safe patient care in the neonatal intensive care unit. The use of simulation techniques for multi-disciplinary team training is her primary focus. She has completed several courses related to curriculum development for use with simulation technology, and is the Director of the Team Education and Multidisciplinary Simulation (TEAMS) Center.
