Research Opportunities in Ovarian Epithelial Cancer Pathobiology

The Department of Pathology and Cell Biology, at the Morsani College of Medicine at the University of South Florida offers research opportunities in the Ovarian Epithelial Cancer Pathobiology Program (OECPP). The OECPP, comprised of a group of basic and clinical researchers, spans cellular, molecular, endocrinological, and genetic aspects of ovarian cancer.

The goal of the OECPP is to determine the regulation of ovarian surface epithelial (OSE) growth, the progenitor tissue of the most frequent and lethal of gynecological malignancies.

Current areas of research include the hormonal and growth factor regulation of OSE growth and papillogenesis; oncogene and tumor suppressor gene-mediated signal transduction pathways; and identification of inherited and induced cellular mutations that contribute to OSE carcinogenesis.

The OECPP is affiliated with the H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center and Tampa General Hospital. The Department of Pathology and Cell Biology accepts applications from students interested in research opportunities with the OECPP and who wish to pursue a Ph.D. in Pathology and Cell Biology.

Financial support may be available to Ph.D. students.
