Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine

Sports Medicine Fellowship

Didactics

Didactic sessions include weekly participation in the Department of Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine Core Lecture Series, which are held every Friday from 7am-11am and a monthly journal club. Grand Rounds are held Friday mornings from 8am -9am, which is part of the Core Lecture Series and the fellow would be expected to present at Grand Rounds 1-2 times per year.

Teaching activities will be encouraged with orthopaedic residents, medical students, and allied health providers. We are also enriched by the presence of primary care sports medicine as two fellowship-trained physicians have a dual appointment with our respective departments and share clinical space and provide medical coverage with us for our student-athletes. A great deal of sports medicine is non-orthopaedic, and daily interaction of the fellows with these physicians will broaden the depth of their exposure and knowledge. Interdisciplinary didactic conferences are planned, as they have been approved for a primary care sports medicine fellowship to begin in July 2008.
