Shayne Plosker, MD
Director, USF IVF and Reproductive Endocrinology
Education MD, University of Western Toronto
Professional Training Residency: Obstetrics and Gynecology, University of Western Ontario Fellowship: Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility, University of California, San Francisco Dr. Plosker joined the Morsani College of Medicine Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology in 2006 as associate professor and director of the IVF and Reproductive Endocrinology Division, when the IVF program at USF was resurrected. Under his stewardship, USF IVF has grown rapidly and will perform in excess of 250 IVF procedures in 2011 at Tampa General Hospital. Since the inception of the program in 2006, USF IVF has expanded to include offices at the STC building across from Tampa General Hospital, the Morsani Medical Office building on the main USF campus, Sarasota, and Lakeland. Dr. Plosker has published articles on optimizing embryo transfer techniques, intrauterine insemination, and fertility preservation. Dr. Plosker received his medical degree from The University of Western Ontario in London, Canada, where he completed a residency in obstetrics and gynecology. His fellowship in reproductive endocrinology and infertility was conducted at the University of California, San Francisco. James Mayer, MD
Associate Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology USF IVF Education MD, Tulane UniversityProfessional Training Residency: Obstetrics and Gynecology, University of South FloridaFellowship: Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility, University of South Florida Dr. Mayer received his undergraduate and medical degrees at Tulane University. He completed his internship and residency in obstetrics and gynecology at the University of South Florida College Of Medicine, and is board certified. Dr. Mayer also completed the first fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility (REI) in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at USF. After completing his fellowship, he was invited to remain as a full time faculty member and is an Associate Professor in the Ob/Gyn Department, Division of Reproductive Medicine and Infertility at USF. In addition to a very active clinical practice, he is the Director of Undergraduate Women's Healthcare Education for the USF College of Medicine and is the Chief of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Tampa General Hospital. Celso P. Silva, MD
Assistant Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology USF IVF Education MD, Professional Training Residency: Obstetrics and Gynecology, Brown University / Women & Infants HospitalFellowship: Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility, University of Pennsylvania Dr. Silva is an Assistant Professor in the University of South Florida Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. He obtained his Medical Degree in Brazil, graduating first in his class. Dr. Silva then conducted post-graduate research training in Reproductive Medicine at Brown University. Subsequently, he completed a residency in Ob/Gyn at Brown University / Women & Infants Hospital and a fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at the University of Pennsylvania. He has published multiple peer-reviewed articles in leading scientific journals, and has been invited to present at national and international meetings. He has won many teaching and scientific awards, including the "David H. Nichols, M.D. Award" for excellence in pelvic surgery, the American Society for Reproductive Medicine "In Training Award", and the Society for Gynecological Investigation "President's Award". His research has been supported by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) Research Training Program. His interests include assisted reproductive technologies, pre-implantation genetic diagnosis, the impact of aging on infertility, and germ cell biology. Dr. Silva feels privileged and inspired by helping couples to achieve the dream of parenthood, and is extremely sensitive to his patients' experiences during the challenges of infertility therapy. Ying Ying, PhD, HCLD (ABB)
Assistant Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology USF IVF Laboratory Director Education PhD, Reproductive Biology, University of Hong KongMaster of Medicine, ZheJiang University Bachelor of Pharmacy, ZheJiang University Dr. Ying obtained his Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy and Master's degree in Medicine from Zhejiang University, China. After finishing his Ph. D. in Reproductive Biology at the University of Hong Kong, he worked as a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Missouri. He is one of the pioneers in identifying novel genes that guide and regulate embryonic cells to form primordial germ cells in mammals. From 2000-2004, he served as a supervisor in IVF Laboratory of Women Infants Hospital of Rhode Island. During his tenure at Brown University, Dr. Ying worked with Dr. David Keefe to establish one of the largest preimplantation genetic diagnosis (PGD) programs in the country. In July 2006, Dr. Ying relocated to Tampa to become USF IVF's laboratory director as assistant professor in Obstetrics & Gynecology. View Dr. Ying's USF Faculty Web Page |

Christine Kilfoyl, RN, BSN
USF IVF Nurse Coordinator
Education BSN, Northern Illinois University Christine Kilfoyl, RN, earned her Bachelors degree in Nursing from Northern Illinois University in 1991. She has been in the Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility field specializing in In Vitro Fertilization since 1999. As a new graduate, Christine practiced nursing at Loyola University of Chicago with a focus in Medical Surgical, GYN, Pediatrics and Trauma, and then worked as a traveling nurse around the country in various specialties, which include Adult Oncology and Pediatric Hematology Oncology. While attending Northern Illinois University School of Nursing she had participated in internships with Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota and St. Thomas Hospital in London, England. |
