In Memoriam

William N. Spellacy, MD

May 10, 1934 – October 8, 2015

It is with sadness that I write to inform you that our great mentor and colleague, Dr. William N. Spellacy, passed away on October 8th, 2015. His countless contributions to the field of Obstetrics and Gynecology and to medicine in general have created a legacy for years to come. A superb physician and a kind man, Dr. Spellacy has impacted students and residents for decades, and those of us who have worked for him or with him will be forever grateful for the privilege of learning from a dedicated researcher, compassionate clinician, and inspiring teacher. He was truly a giant in the field and an outstanding human being.

Donations in memory of Dr. Spellacy can be made to the USF Morsani College of Medicine Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology and may be sent to the USF Health Development and Alumni Relations, 12901 Bruce B. His family has arranged a memorial service on October 24th, 2015 at 2:00pm at St. Boniface on Siesta Key (5615 Midnight Pass Rd, Sarasota, FL 34242-1720). The University and the Ingram Spellacy Society is also planning a memorial for sometime in the spring. Please also check our website for details in the coming months.
