Research Interests

  • Proteomic analysis of tissues from the fetal compartment of term placentas has revealed proteins associated (co-immunoprecipitated) with the VEGF receptor 2 (VEGFR2) that could participate in the signal transduction pathway of VEGFR2 to regulate placental vascularization and placental metabolism to support fetal growth and possibly labor.
  • Proteomic methods are also used to study VEGFR2 networks supporting leiomyoma growth in women and interact with estradiol and retinoic acids in our guinea pig model for leiomyomata.
  • A cervical mucus peroxidase (GPx) that outlines the fertile period of women is used to tag proteins associated with GPx during the menstrual cycle that may control mucus structure and function.
