Dr. Ying Ying obtained a Bachelors degree in Pharmacy and a Masters degree in Medicine from Zhejiang University, China. After finishing his Ph. D. in Reproductive Biology in the University of Hong Kong, he worked as a postdoctoral fellow in the University of Missouri, where his research focused on how genes control primordial germ cell generation during embryogenesis. He is one of the pioneers in identifying novel genes that guide and regulate embryonic cells to form primordial germ cells in mammals. From 2000 to 2004, he worked as a research scientist at Brown University and also served as a supervisor in IVF Laboratory of Women Infants Hospital of Rhode Island. During his tenure at Brown University, Dr. Ying, worked with Dr. David Keefe and Kelly Pagidas, established one of the largest preimplantation genetic diagnosis (PGD) programs in the country. In 2005, he joined the faculty in the department of Obstetrics & Gynecology in the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio and served as director in the embryology laboratory of primatology. In July of 2007, he joined the faculty in the department of Obstetrics & Gynecology USF as an assistant professor and IVF laboratory director. He was certified as a high-complexity clinical laboratory director (HCLD) and technical supervisor in Andrology and Embryology by the American Board of Bioanalysis
