Biographical Sketch
Rebecca Kukla received her Ph.D. in Philosophy at the University of Pittsburgh and completed a Greenwall Fellowship in Bioethics and Health Policy at Johns Hopkins University. She is currently Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Professor of Philosophy, and Affiliated Professor of Women's Studies at the University of South Florida. Before coming to USF in 2007, she was Associate Professor of Philosophy and the Marston LaFrance Research Fellow at Carleton University in Ottawa, Canada. While at Carleton, she won the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences Award for Teaching Excellence. She has held invited visiting positions at Georgetown University, Johns Hopkins University, and the Food and Nutrition Assistance Research division of the USDA. Her research has been supported by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada, the National Endowment for the Humanities, the Woodrow Wilson Foundation, and the Greenwall Foundation. She is also a Certified Sommelier, having received her certification from Algonquin College in 2007. Interests

Current Research
Dr. Kukla is currently the principle investigator on a grant entitled "Autonomy and the Negotiation of Reproductive Health Information", funded by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada. This grant includes support for the Obstetrics and Gynecology Risk Research Group, of which she is one of seven members. She is also a member of the bioethics advisory board for the Oncofertility Consortium, which is funded by an NIH roadmap grant, and a member of a multisite, interdisciplinary research collaborative that studies the ethical and social implications of genetic engineering and enhancement and prenatal selection.
