Biographical Sketch

 Dr. Valerie E. Whiteman, Assistant Professor in the Division of Maternal Fetal Medicine of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of South Florida, College of Medicine joined the faculty in April 2008. Dr. Whiteman is a native of New York. She is a graduate of the State University of New York School of Medicine in Buffalo. She completed her residency training in OB/GYN was at the State University of New York Health Science Center of Brooklyn and  a Maternal Fetal Medicine Fellowship at the University of Illinois at Chicago.
 
Dr. Whiteman was an attending Perinatologist at the Temple University School of Medicine in Philadelphia for 15 years before joining the faculty at USF. During that time, she held several positions, including the Director for Obstetrics Services and the High Risk Outpatient Services and Director for the Departmental Continuous Quality Improvement program.
 
Dr. Whiteman is Board Certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology as well as Maternal Fetal Medicine. She is a Fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology. She has numerous publications addressing the medical complications of pregnancy and antenatal ultrasound diagnosis. She has given multiple scientific presentations at various meetings and has participated in several funded research projects in diabetes in pregnancy and prematurity. Her main interests are the management of medical and surgical complications of pregnancy, antenatal diagnosis and prematurity.
