Complex Spinal Surgery
The Spine Division, under the directorship of Dr. Juan S. Uribe, sponsors a fully funded one-year fellowship in complex spinal disorders. During this year, the fellow will gain exposure and familiarity with a variety of approaches and techniques involving the entire spinal axis from the occiput to the sacrum. The fellow will also address the entire constellation of disease states that can affect the human spine; this includes trauma, degenerative diseases, congenital diseases, oncological, and infectious problems. At USF, we are aggressive in the implementation of minimally invasive techniques when feasible and appropriate. In addition to the vast armamentarium of open procedures, the fellow will be involved in a variety of minimally invasive surgical techniques.
The department is currently accepting applications for the 2011-2012 fellowship position. Qualified applicants should contact Dr. Juan S. Uribe at juribe@health.usf.edu. Please include a personal statement regarding your goals in seeking this position along with your current curriculum vitae.
