Donald Smith, M.D. joined the USF Neurosurgery faculty in 1986. In 1987 he became an Assistant Professor and on to Associate Professor in 2001. His study of neurosurgery has taken him to Quebec, Canada where he studied neuropathology and neuroradiology as a clinical fellow. He then spent 6 months in London at The National Hospital for Neurological Disease and The Hospital for Sick Children. Dr. Smith specializes in stereotactic radiosurgery for the treatment of metastatic and benign brain tumors as well as arteriovenous malformations. This procedure is a technique for delivery of high intensity, highly focused radiation beam directed to a specific location of the brain.
Dr. Smith also serves as the Co-Surgical Director for the Department of Neurosurgery Movement Disorder's Clinic.
