Services under the health insurance plan are currently provided through United Health care’s Preferred Provider Organization (PPO) of clinicians, credentialed and approved by the insurance provider and their Preferred Provider Network of hospitals.
Health Insurance is currently provided at no cost to the resident. If you have a spouse and/or children, there is a nominal monthly co-pay that is taken directly from your salary.
Dental insurance is not a provided benefit. However, the health insurance provider will consider charges incurred as a result of accidental injury to sound teeth. Dental insurance “riders” are available to purchase through the insurance company at your personal expense.
Group Term Life Insurance provides $50,000 of basic term life insurance and $50,000 accidental death and dismemberment. Residents have the option for additional insurance at their own expense.
Leave Benefits for Residents
Vacation (Annual Leave)
- PGY I residents – 2 weeks of leave is granted at this training level.
- PGY II and above - 3 weeks during each year of residency.
- Leave does not carry over from one academic year to the other.
Residents will each be allocated ten days of sick leave at the beginning of each appointment year.
Five days per academic year is permitted for conference leave.
There are numerous opportunities for educational stipends for residents in the training program.
