Message from the Residency Director

The Department of Neurology at The University of South Florida College of Medicine offers accredited three-year residency programs in adult neurology.  Up to Five adult neurology residents are recruited each year. Our goal is to train clinical neuroscientists: individuals who provide expert patient care and who understand basic and clinical neurosciences.  We endeavor to provide the highest quality training in general neurology and the major neurological subspecialties.  To meet this objective, trainees receive extensive clinical experience in the inpatient and outpatient setting supervised by an active, energetic faculty with a wide variety of clinical and research interests.  Numerous teaching conferences and electives supplement the basic curriculum and provide residents with a strong foundation in principles of basic and clinical science. In addition to emphasizing education, neurology faculty are active in clinical care and clinical and basic research. As a result of this exposure, graduates of the program are prepared for both private clinical practice and academic neurology careers. Current residents find that our neurology staff values teaching as an exchange of ideas, and as an activity that promotes interaction and inquiry among faculty and residents. Residents are treated as junior colleagues. Formal and informal interaction between faculty and residents is encouraged.
