Application Process for the
Physical Medicine Rehabilitation Residency Program

Thank you for your interest in the USF Physical Medicine Rehabilitation (PMR) Residency Program.

We were the first rehab residency program in the state of Florida! We are now one of two programs in the sunshine state.

The PMR Residency Program at the University of South Florida is a four-year categorical training program in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. Year one of the program concentrates on the fundamental clinical skills as required by the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (ABPMR). When applying, please understand that you are applying for a four (4) year program. We currently offer two (2) positions per Academic Year.

Applications are only accepted through the Electronic Residency Application System (ERAS) from September 1st through December 1st.

Qualifications

USMLE – Passing scores with no more than 1 attempt

Letters of Recommendation – when applying, please provide three (3) letters of recommendation. We like to see at least one (1) letter from a physiatrist and at least one (1) letter current.

Foreign Medical Graduates

    • We only sponsor J1 Visas
    • Four (4) weeks of U.S. clinical experience is required
    • Applicants must have an ECFMG certificate.

Interviews

Our program is extremely competitive. Applicants are encouraged to apply as early as possible. Interviews usually take place between November and January.
Applicants that are granted an interview are then ranked and selected through the National Residency Matching Program (NRMP)
