Neurology StudentsNeurology Clerkship

The University of South Florida College of Medicine offers a two-week, top class learning and teaching experience in Neurology for the third year medical students. The rotation is part of the Neuropsychiatry Clerkship. The students rotate in Stroke, inpatient and outpatient general Neurology setting. The inpatient training is provided in Tampa General Hospital (TGH) and the James A. Haley Veterans Hospital. TGH is a busy, top-quality, 958-bed academic teaching facility. It has one of the largest Neuroscience ICU in the country. The Veterans Hospital in Tampa is the busiest in the Nation. Our students also have exciting opportunities to focus on common and rare neurological disorders in the University subspecialty and general neurology clinics as well as the Hillsborough County clinics. In addition to the clinical work, the students' knowledge and curiosity in Neurology is stimulated in lectures, case discussions, Chairman's rounds, teaching conferences, and review of evidence-based medicine literature.

The fourth year medical students have the opportunity to continue their experiences in neurology by choosing among various exciting electives. All interested students are welcome in participating in research projects. They are encouraged to participate and present at the annual meeting of the Florida Society of Neurology and national meetings.

Our dedicated faculty and residents work closely with the medical students in order to provide an outstanding and enriching experience in the most sophisticated system in the human body.
