Welcome!

Welcome to the Department of Neurology at the University of South Florida College of Medicine. Neurology is in the midst of a therapeutic revolution in which some of the most dreaded of diseases, untreatable throughout human history, are at last becoming treatable through scientific and clinical advances. USF Neurology is entering the forefront of this exciting era through strategic alignment of our many resources in the basic and clinical neurosciences. These include established clinical Centers of Excellence in

Additionally, new centers for Neuromuscular Diseases and for Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis and Motor Neuron Disease are currently under development within our department. These clinical centers are complemented and enhanced by world-class basic Neuroscience support, including laboratories with major programs focused on non-embryonic stem cell research, neuronal regeneration and repair and immune modulation of the nervous system, among many others. We are now in the process of weaving these assets together into a cluster of Translational Neuroscience Centers, which will be focused on developing and testing new therapies to effectively combat the most devastating and challenging of neurological diseases.

In concert with these clinical and research missions, we strive to offer optimal training and education to our medical students, residents, fellows, practicing physicians and the community. Our residency program is large and robust, with excellent clinical training and patient resources across the full spectrum of Neurology, as well as a rich and detailed didactic curriculum over the three years of training. Our program now also includes a guaranteed first year of general internship for entering residents, in addition to the three years of Neurology residency, all in the beautiful urban center and coastal resort community of Tampa, Florida.

We look forward to a brighter future for our patients and welcome your help as we bring all of our resources together to conquer, one by one, the most terrible of neurological diseases.
