SELECT MD Program

USF Morsani College of Medicine and Lehigh Valley Health Network (LVHN) have partnered to create the new SELECT MD program to train a cohort of medical students that will be on a professional trajectory to become the next generation of healthcare leaders. SELECT (Scholarly Excellence. Leadership Experiences. Collaborative Training.) is a four-year MD program, that has matriculated its inaugural class in fall 2011 and is actively recruiting our second class of future change agents who aspire to passionately serve patients and transform healthcare in the 21st century.
Students matriculating in the USF/LVHN SELECT MD program will receive the excellent core USF MD curriculum integrated with the unique SELECT MD curriculum that emphasizes leadership training, patient-centered health care, health policy, health care quality and safety, and interprofessional team-based care. Students will shape their educational experiences at both a highly progressive, student-centered medical school, the USF Morsani College of Medicine, and at Lehigh Valley Health Network, one of the country’s top health networks consistently listed as one of America’s Best Hospitals by U.S. News & World Report for its quality, safety and modern team care.
Students spend their first two years taking classes at the USF Morsani College of Medicine in Tampa, FL, and then go to LVHN in Allentown, PA, to complete years 3 and 4 of their medical education. Throughout all 4 years, the students are a part of interactive learning modules and experiences that involve faculty & peer coaching as well as elf-directed learning that prepares them to provide high quality patient care.
