On November 18th the Division participated in the Great American Teach-In by visiting two 8th grade classes at Williams Middle Magnet School. The students learned about careers in medicine, infectious diseases and international medicine. The teach-in is an annual event throughout the U.S. in which professionals are invited to share with students ranging from elementary through high school about different careers and hobbies. Asa Oxner and Danish Ahmad, two fourth year medical students at USF who are in the Scholarly Concentration in International Medicine, taught the classes and shared with students about their experiences in medical school and volunteering in other countries. The students also participated in a hand washing exercise. This is the second year the Division has participated in the Great American Teach-In. |
