Research Interests

  • Dr. Pathak's research has been funded by the CDC, the American Heart Association, and the Department of Defense. She was the Principal Investigator on a project that resulted in the first national atlases of geographic disparities in heart disease mortality by race/ethnicity and gender. "Women and Heart Disease" and "Men and Heart Disease" were featured in numerous national news stories on television and in print, including articles in the New York Times and a front page article in USA Today (http://usatoday30.usatoday.com/news/health/2001-06-20-heart-disease.htm). Dr. Pathak‚Äôs current research projects include: (1) A DOD-funded systematic review of beliefs about end-of-life health care among patients, caregivers, and providers; (2) Disparities in treatment and outcomes for heart attack patients; (3) Epidemiology and outcomes of multiple myeloma and its precursor disease; (4) Disparities in access to curative-intent surgery and subsequent outcomes for lung cancer patients.
