The Medical Sciences master's program is a traditional graduate degree which consists of basic/molecular science credits, with medical relevance. The courses are scheduled so that the degree can be completed within one year. In general, concentrations that AVERAGE seven (7) core/basic science and/or quantitative analysis credits per semester are intensely rigorous and will require the greatest amount of effort to be successful. It is highly recommended that students limit extracurricular/work activities while completing this degree.
The core difference between each concentration would be the course requirements. The "BEST" curriculum is based upon personal preference and therefore, applicants will need to exercise individual judgment. Successful graduates of the Medical Science master's program may improve their academic credentials for admissions into professional programs by further developing their foundational knowledge of biomedical science. However, this is not a patient based curriculum or a "program" specifically designed for pre-health professionals.
Departmental advisors are only able to address questions specific to the Medical Science curriculum. Students should maintain direct communication with the admissions officers/advisors for their goal schools of interest (e.g. John's University). Institutions (e.g. John's University) have officers/advisors who can provide the best recommendations regarding the Medical Science's appropriateness for admissions into their professional programs.
