Visiting Residents Information
To ensure that the College of Medicine is aware of any visiting residents, the Office of Graduate Medical Education maintains information on all residents visiting a USF Program.
The USF College of Medicine requires that residents be paid, have full and appropriate malpractice coverage, and have health insurance. In addition, the Florida Board of Medicine requires advance approval of all unlicensed residents in training, even for a brief rotation; this approval must be for accredited residency programs at the University of South Florida- not the current program.
Timeframe for receipt of this COMPLETED information to the GME Office is as follows:
- For residents in a current State of Florida program: Four (4) weeks prior to the rotation.
- For Out-of-State residents: Six (6) weeks prior to the rotation.
