Biographical Sketch

During my academic career, I have emphasized my diverse role as a clinician-educator-reseacher and contributor to the expanding sports medicine literature pool. I have been extensively involved in teaching our medical students at every level. I have been Course Director for 5 required and elective courses for our 1st,2nd, 3rd, and 4th year students. I have been involved in sweeping curricular improvements at the first through fourth year levels, and have worked extremely hard to serve our students as a teacher and mentor.

I also serve as Director of our rapidly expanding Division of Sports Medicine. In that capacity, I have pushed to expand our opportunities for the musculoskeletal education of our medical students. I have begun to develop much broader interdisciplinary research initiatives in Heat Illness, the Female Athlete Triad, and concussion research, as well as to serve our university as Head Medical Team Physician.

Interests

A novel hybrid web-based and small-group-discussion based Physical Diagnosis I and II curriculum to better educate adult learners to have a deeper mastery of physical diagnosis skills so critical for the physician of today

An entirely web-based Essentials of Clinical Practice Course, a longitudinal fourth year curriculum attempting to better prepare "physicians that get it", young doctors who are both competent and satisfied in their medical careers

A new fourth year musculoskeletal and dermatology required rotation to bolster graduates' understanding of diseases and examination of the musculoskeletal and dermatologic systems, a common weakness in many medical school curricula

An integrated examination system for all courses in the first and second year curriculum

An intercollegiate OSCE with the Colleges of Medicine and Nursing
