Academic Positions:   Professor, Department of Oncologic Sciences.  Interim Vice Dean for Educational Affairs (2007-2008).  Associate Dean for Undergraduate Medical Education (2005-2008). Director of Medical Student Education for the Department of Internal Medicine (2001-2005).

 

Teaching Responsibilities:  Course Director for The Professions of Medicine (2005-2008); Introduction to the Clerkships (2006-2008); Junior Internal Medicine Clerkship (1999-2004); Honors Acting Internship in Internal Medicine (1996-1999); Senior Internal Medicine Clerkship (1997-1999) and participation as a lecturer, small group leader, clinic preceptor, etc in many other courses. Advisor/mentor to many medical students and residents, 1993-present.

 

Education:  Undergraduate B.S. from the University of Notre Dame. Medical School at Indiana University School of Medicine. Internal Medicine residency training at the University of South Florida. Faculty development fellowship at University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.  Masters in Public Health from the University of South Florida.

University Service:  Academic Performance Review Committee, Member (1999-2008), Chair (2007-2008); Committee on Curriculum (1998-2008); LCME Self Study Executive Steering Committee (2005-2006); PACE (Project to Advance Clinical Education) Education Strategic Working Group (2004-2006); Academic Computing Committee (1998-2004); Systems and Quality Management Committee; Physician Oversight Committee (2002-2005); At-Large Member, USFPG Board of Directors (2001-2003); Self-Insurance Programs Claims Management Committee and Council; among others.

National Level:  State of Florida Medicaid Drug Utilization Review Board (1996-2006); NBME Test Writing Committee for USMLE Part II (1996-1997); ACP National Associates Competition Review Board (1994-2006); CDIM Nominating Committee 2003-2006).

Professional Societies:  Fellow of the American College of Physicians; American Medical Association; Clerkship Directors in Internal Medicine (CDIM); Society of General Internal Medicine; Florida Medical Association.
 

Faculty Council Goals:  To represent the diversity of thoughts and concerns of the faculty in a fair and balanced manner. To advocate strongly and equally on behalf of the faculty on matters related to the tripartite mission of the college. To foster an environment of respect, collegiality and shared goals in all that we do. Serve as a reminder of the rich and important history of our collective successes as the college moves into an often uncertain future. To promote an environment reflecting health and wellness.
