Prerequisite Courses

(Updated February 1, 2015) (For DPT 2020 Class Admissions Cycle Beginning July 1, 2016)

The following prerequisites have been selected to assist in preparing candidates for our rigorous program and to fulfill the mission of our school.

Please note: Level of courses must be appropriate for science majors, and must have been completed within five (5) years of date of matriculation.

Advanced Placement (AP), International Baccalaureate (IB) and Dual Enrollment (DE) (unless DE courses were completed at a four year university) credit is NOT normally accepted as a substitution for completion of any college level prerequisite coursework unless validated by advanced coursework in the subject matter which demonstrates academic strength.

Physics

General Physics (PHY 2053 - 3cr)
General Physics - Laboratory (PHY 2053L - 1cr)
General Physics (PHY 2054 - 3cr)
General Physics - Laboratory (PHY 2054L - 1cr)

Psychology

Introduction to Psychological Science (PSY 2012 - 3cr) and
The Life Cycle (DEP 2004 - 3cr) or
Abnormal Psychology (CLP 4143 – 3cr) or
Developmental Psychology (DEP 4053 – 3cr)

Mathematics

Introductory Statistics (STA 2023 - 3cr)

Biology

Biology I - Cellular Processes (BSC 2010 - 3cr)
Biology I - Cellular Processes Laboratory (BSC 2010L - 1cr)

It is the preference of the DPT Student Selection Committee that students complete BSC 2093/94 course sequence.>Human Anatomy and Physiology I (BSC 2093C - 4cr)
Human Anatomy and Physiology II (BSC 2094C - 4cr)

However, we will accept BSC 2085/86 course sequence..
Anatomy and Physiology for Health Professionals I with Lab (BSC 2085/L - 4cr)
Anatomy and Physiology for Health Professionals II with Lab (BSC 2086/L - 4cr)
