Gina Maria Musolino, PT, MSEd, EdD was recently appointed Associate Professor and Coordinator Clinical Education for the University of South Florida, USF Health, College of Medicine, School of Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Sciences, Tampa, FL. Previously, she was Associate Professor and Director of Clinical Education for The University of Utah, College of Health, Department of Physical Therapy. Dr. Musolino has served as former Vice-Chair of the Southwest District of FPTA (1998-2000); FPTA Research Committee (2000-2001); APTA Annual Conference Program Committee (2003-2006), Chairperson (2006); APTA Education SIG Nominating Committee Member (2003-2005); Chairperson, Northwest Intermountain Consortium of Clinical Educators (2006-2008); APTA Education Section, Promotion Representative-at-Large (2006-2010) and APTA Awards Committee, Subcommittee on Education (2009-2013). Gina previously served on the Education Section Subcommittee for the APTA Annual Conference Program Review Committee from 1999-2003; and serving for Screening of Abstracts for ACPC 2010.
Dr. Musolino received the Beatrice Schulz Award for Outstanding Clinical Achievement (1987) and the Alumni Award (2007) Washington University, School of Medicine, Program in Physical Therapy, The Feitelberg Journal Founders Award, APTA Education Section, Journal of Physical Therapy Education (JPTE, 2005) and Award of Merit in Technology Delivered Instruction, The University of Utah (2004). She has also served as a McNair Scholar Mentor. As a researcher and educator, she has shared her knowledge and investigation in teaching and learning, in focus areas: curriculum design, development and evaluation, service-learning, clinical education and interdisciplinary health sciences cultural competency. Dr. Musolino has served as lead instructor for courses in evidence-based practice, qualitative research, teaching and learning, and as research advisor for both DPT entry-level, post-professional and PhD candidates.
Dr. Musolino and her colleagues have presented over 20 abstracts at the national level and received the PT 2008 ACPC Abstract Recognition for Outstanding Abstract representing Vision 2020 and scholarship (Steven, J, Musolino, G, Ballard, J. PT Tests & Measures for a Patient with Parkinson’s Disease for Consultation with Referring Neurosurgeon for a Potential Deep Brain Stimulation Surgery, APTA PT 2008, San Antonio, TX, June 13, 2008). Dr. Musolino is both an Advanced & Basic APTA Credentialed Clinical Trainer. She serves as a peer reviewer for Phys Ther, JAH, JPTE, and Med Educ. She is a published author in peer reviewed journals, including JPTE and the Journal of Allied Health (JAH). Her most recent scholarship includes chapters in an inter-professional textbook “Finding Meaning in Civically Engaged Scholarship: Personal Journeys, Professional Experiences” [Liese H. & Diener M(eds) Information Age Publishing, 2009] and as principal investigator, lead author for an inter-professional, original research article, Mutual Respect in Healthcare: Assessing Cultural Competence for Interdisciplinary Health Sciences Students (JAH, Vol 38, No 2. Summer 2009;e54-62).
