Biographical Sketch
Dr. Sbar graduated in the second medical school class from the University of Florida in 1961. Residency training primarily at Emory medical school with second year of cardiology fellowship at Florida. He came as the first director of the cardiac catheterization laboratory at Tampa general hospital in 1971 the same year the University of South Florida started its program. He maintained his appointment as clinical faculty since that time and proctored the first cardiac fellows going through the program under the direction of USF. He was an academic associate professor of medicine from 2000-2003; and since that period has continued at the Tampa VA Hospital, primarily in the catheterization laboratory where he performs invasive and interventional procedures. His primary interests are teaching . He has four grown children and six grandchildren all of whom reside in Tampa and keep his wife happily occupied. His hobbies are mountain biking and snow skiing the latter performed in Utah where he practiced for 5 years.
