Biographical Sketch
Born and raised in Tampa, Dr. Knight attended local schools. He completed undergraduate studies at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill; medical school at Tulane University, graduating with a M.D. degree in 1959. Completed post-graduate training in Internal Medicine and Cardiology at University of Virginia Hospital and Tulane Service, Charity Hospital of Louisiana. Served in the U.S. Army Medical Corps 1963-1965. Began the private practice of Internal Medicine/Cardiology in 1965 in Tampa, until 1982, when he left to become an Associate Professor of Cardiology at Oral Roberts University School of Medicine, 1982-1984. Then returned to his home in Tampa and joined the USF faculty as Associate Professor of Cardiology.
Dr. Knight is board certified and has been a staff member of TGH, St. Joseph's Hospital, VA Hospital and was instrumental in founding Memorial Hospital of Tampa. He served formerly as Chief of Staff at Memorial and Chief of Medicine at TGH. Dr. Knight presently works primarily out of the Harbourside Medical Tower. His interests are in heart attack and stroke prevention, complex lipid abnormalities and sports cardiology. Dr.Knight was recently awarded Diplomate status with the American Board of Clinical Lipidology (ABCL). In 2008, he joined only 300 physicians across the nation who have achieved this prestigious credential.
