Native of Russia, she graduated cum laude from medical school, and was practicing as Attending Cardiologist in the busiest university hospital in her hometown Vogograd (better known by its former name Stalingrad for 10 years.

In 1997, being already an established cardiologist, she came to the US and repeated her postgraduate training at Case Western Reserve University (residency) and UMDNJ/Cooper Hospital (Cardiology fellowship).

Next three years she spent at the Detroit VAMC running the heart failure clinic and doing noninvasive cardiology. She held the position of Director of Echocardiography.
