Biographical Sketch

Dr. Adam Cohen joined the Cardiology faculty at the University of South Florida 1 March 2010.  He was born in Burbank, but considers himself as a Pittsburgher where he grew up.  He attended Lehigh University as part of the 6 year BA-MD program with the Medical College of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, graduating as a Humanities Scholar.  His internship/residency in Internal Medicine was completed at the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital, after which he entered into the US Air Force Medical Corps at Offutt AFB, Nebraska.  While there, he served as the Triage Team leader, HIV Program Director, and Echocardiographic Lab director.  Dr. Cohen then completed a 3 year Cardiology Fellowship at the Creighton University Cardiac Center in Omaha, Nebraska.  He  then relocated to Tampa Bay metropolitan area, and for the next 14 years was engaged in private practice, most recently at the Tampa Heart Center, where he served as the  Echocardiograph Laboratory  Medical Director.  His main interests are clinical cardiology, echocardiography,  critical care cardiology, and the cardiac manifestations of HIV.  He enjoys interacting with the students and housestaff. He is currently a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology, and member of the American Society of Echocardiography and the Hillsborough County Medical Association. He is currently married with 3 daughters.  His interests include science fiction, computers, history, and Disney trivia (being a former Disney employee himself).
