Dear Colleagues:
In its Strategic Plan 2007-12, the University of South Florida has articulated its ultimate goal of becoming a member of the Association of American Universities. To facilitate the accomplishment of this goal, the College of Medicine has undertaken a systematic and strategic process of transforming its basic and clinical research enterprise in an effort to expand its research capacity and double extramural research funding over the next five years. One of the critical steps taken in this regards is the reorganization of the basic sciences in the College of Medicine and its closer realignment with the graduate and postdoctoral education. To bring this process to fruition and to enhance interdisciplinary research and to create a robust and efficient research infrastructure, a School of Biomedical Sciences was established in April 2006. The school is currently comprised of the following:
- Basic Science Departments:
- Molecular Medicine
- Molecular Pharmacology & Physiology
- Pathology & Cell Biology
- Interdisciplinary Oncology
- Office of Graduate and Post-doctoral Affairs
- CORE Facilities
- Centers/Institutes
- Distance Learning
