Andrew Myers
Hello future doctors of medicine and physical therapy. I'm Andrew Myers. I’m sure you are all very excited to be coming to USF. I am originally from Pensacola, Fl but went to UCF for undergrad where I majored in Micro and Molecular Biology and minored in German. I am lucky enough at the moment to be in Germany for EUROCUP ’08 and just returned from watching the Germany-Austria game in Vienna. The picture is of me and a couple of Viennese police officers at about 3 am, after I had celebrated Germany’s win. Needless to say I enjoy both playing and watching sports. I also enjoy movies, plays, and generally hanging out with friends. My best advice would be to enjoy POM and try to get along with your classmates because you will see them every day for at least the next two years, if not the next four. I look forward to meeting everyone and hope you all are enjoying your summers. If you have any questions about ANYTHING, both I and the rest of the Dirty Dozen are at your disposal.

Daniel Gerscovich
Hey ya'll, my name is Daniel Gerscovich, and I, along with Keely, are your 12-PAC chairs, and at this time probably hate all the cluttering of your inbox we do…Sorry, but I am very excited to represent 12-PAC and make sure your transition here into USF is a smooth one, and fun at that! I am originally from Winter Park, (Orlando), and went to THE University of Virginia. It’s the better blue and orange( for you Gators)! Got a piece of paper with my name on it followed with Bachelors in Ed, Sports Medicine, and after college lived in DC for three years living the life, working at NIH. I love to travel, been lots of places, and am (nearly) always willing to go anywhere. About me: If its on the water, has sand, or is in the sun, I'm there. That’s about it, and I have found plenty of ways to let loose in Tampa, try and blow off some steam from the studying and exams, so just give me a holler whenever you need to vent, as the Coors light commercial so perfectly puts it. USF was my top choice, is still my top choice, and one of the best decisions I've made thus far….so CONGRATS, and start living the dream! Ya'll have my contact, via phone, email, facebook, yada yada, so don’t be shy, im not, and were going to make sure that you get to know everybody and enjoy your time here at USF!

Hey classes of 2012 and 2011. I went to USF as undergrad. So I guess you could say that this is already somewhat of my home. I am looking forward to meeting and help you guys get into the swing of grad school. I am pretty good with the area. I’ve lived down here for most of my life, however I am a native from NJ. I’m a very fun and easy going person and very easy to get a long with. I am often told at times that I talk to much. But, oh well right….. One of the kookiest things about me is that I can make the “Scooby Doo” laugh to a perfection...LOL. You guys enjoy your summer and we will see you soon. -Dr. Phil

Keely Fischbach
Hey ya’ll! My name is Keely Fischbach and I’m your 12 PAC co-chair. Hmm, where should I begin? I was born and raised in Brandon, FL, but don’t let that fool you into thinking that I’m a homebody. I spent most of my youth rodeoing around the nation. Our idea of a family vacation was hauling the horse trailer behind the pickup on our way to some national horse show which was in Gillette, Wyoming or Farmington, New Mexico. I went to the University of Florida (Go Gators!) for undergrad then got a Master’s from Georgetown University. Things I love: the color red, baking, chit chat, basketball, the beach, hanging with friends, Broadway plays, Sonatas, House, George Strait, One Republic, Michael Buble (He blew me a kiss at his concert!), traveling, and of course, goofing off before the test instead of studying! Anything else you want to know about me, just ask! . . . unless of course I don’t know then you are out of luck!:-)

John Kanaan
Hola class of 2012,

Congrats and welcome to USFCOM. My name is John “The Big Cheese” Kanaan and it is my job to orientate you to what will become your new home. I am not a Florida native, but was born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio. I stayed there for college when I attended Case Western Reserve University as a Chemistry and Psych major. Coming to USF is without a doubt one of the best decisions I have ever made. There’s a real family atmosphere down here, and I am sure you will all have a positive experience. If I could give you two words of advice, the first would be to get involved with some extracurricular activities here right off the bat. I am involved with APAMSA, CMA and Student Council and some of the best times I have had this past year were with these clubs. My other word of advice would be to go out and party now and during POM. Party as much as you can. If you think that you are already doing that, then go out and party harder. You’ll soon realize that POM marks the beginning of the end of your social life as you know it, so go ahead and soak up the free time.

Patrick Carroll
Hello and welcome everyone to USF Health!  I am a non-traditional student who worked as a computer programmer/chemist for several years in the pharmaceutical research and computer field.  I was born in the east-bay of San Francisco California, but have lived in many states including Oregon, Wyoming, and North Carolina and moved to Florida in 2001.  I am a graduate of the University of Wyoming in Chemistry and attended UCF for postbaccalaureate studies.  I decided to attend USF's medical school because of it's proximity to my family in Orlando as well as it's unsurpassed reputation in education and clinical exposure.  My interests include amusement parks, camping & hiking, and online virtual worlds.  Enjoy your summer and see you at the BBQ in August!

P.S. I'm the IT guy for our med school class, so if you have any computer questions or any questions about medical school, just shoot me an email: pcarroll@health.usf.edu.

Alex Hayes
Hey Kids!

Firstly, congratulations on choosing USF COM as your home for the next 4 years! My name is Alex Hayes. I am originally from Jacksonville, FL. I got my undergrad degree from the University of Florida and received a master’s degree from USF (IMS Program). I have thoroughly enjoyed my time here in Tampa and at USF COM. It certainly is worth all the hard work and dedication you have put in thus far. Which is where I come in…12-PAC and I are here to make your transition into medical school as smooth as possible, oh yeah and as FUN as possible too! I look forward to meeting all of you! Enjoy your summer!

PS. That picture was taken in Honolulu, Hawai’i for an AMA conference (medical school is not as much work as “they” make it out to be, lol) -Alex

Best Thing I did in 1st year: Went to Dominican Republic with IHSC
Other Notes: Feel free to ask me questions about anything people, whether it be leadership positions, where to go out at night, study tips or how to install a fan in your new apartment (I’ve done this a lot). Good choice on USF! You will love your classmates and you will love the faculty/administration, I promise. Look forward to meeting you all!

Matthew Manry
Hello Class of 2012!!!! My name's Matt and I'm extremely excited to be on your 12-PAC comittee! I was born in Philadelphia, but have spent most of my life growing up in Clearwater. I did my undergrad at UF and am a gator fan through-and-through! In the free time we do have, I like going out by the pool, working out, reading, playing Rockband non-stop and going out at night. Med School truly is a lot of fun and a great learning experience. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to facebook me or give me a call (727-492-0669). Enjoy your summer and I look forward to meeting you all in August!
Sincerely, Matthew Manry

Hi and welcome c/o 2012!!!! My name is Courtney Smiley and I am really excited to be a part of 12-pac, “your official welcoming committee.” I am from Jacksonville, FL (GO JAGS!!) and I attended Howard University in Washington, DC for undergrad. I played college ball and recently won the class superlative “The real reason why the faculty cancelled the student’s vs. faculty basketball game.” If anyone ever wants to shoot hoops or just needs an exercise buddy I’m your girl! Beyond sports and studying I like to travel. Just this year, with a couple of USFCOM organizations, I’ve been to NYC, San Francisco, and Bolivia! First year has been amazing. I’m looking forward to meeting you guys and if you have any questions at all please feel free to shoot me a message.
