Instructional Design and Training (IDT) provides consistent, high-quality training to USF Health employees. Currently, we provide free training classes to all faculty, staff and medical students on the new version of the GE Healthcare / IDX Flowcast patient information system and the implementation of the Allscripts Touchworks Electronic Medical Records application as part of the Patient Centric Information Solution (PCIS) Project.

Microsoft SharePoint 2007 is available by request.
Microsoft Classes *MS Content Management Server Content Management Server is a Microsoft application designed to manage web content without the use of HTML. You will learn how to navigate around CMS, update web content, insert pictures, and add hyperlinks to your department's webpage. Web design experience is not a requirement for this class. *Administering Your SharePoint Site PCIS (GE/ Allscripts) *ASC Clinical Support This class provides training on performing clinical duties using the Allscripts Electronic Health Record (EHR) and GE Flowcast systems. You will learn to navigate PCIS, work with and personalize daily schedules, retrieve patient demographic information, and locate documents within the patient’s electronic chart. *Clinical Support Staff - Session I This class is your introduction to performing clinical duties using PCIS. You will learn to navigate PCIS, work with and personalize daily schedules, retrieve patient demographic information, and locate documents within the patient’s electronic chart. This course will show you how to enter patient clinical information, such as problems, allergies, medication history, immunizations, vital signs and viewing results. You will also learn how to manage daily tasks and request patient charts.
Wednesday, May 22nd, 8:30am – noon in FOB 1302 Wednesday, May 29th, 8:30am – noon in FOB 1302 Wednesday, June 5th, 8:30am – noon in FOB 1302 Wednesday, June 12th, 8:30am – noon in FOB 1302 *Heroes - Health Electronic Records Online Enhanced Support HEROES Training is for people who are identified by their Supervisor/Manager as having an advanced understanding of the PCIS System. The HEROES Workshop will take you to the next level of the PCIS program and give you a more in-depth understanding of the program. This workshop will help you develop troubleshooting skills and leadership qualities through in-class participation exercises. *Clinical Support Staff – Session II This class is a follow up to Clinical Support Session I. The class will start with an assessment of skills learned in Session I. This assessment will be used to strengthen specific competencies and answer questions. You will also learn new information: how to use Tasking in PCIS, how to schedule basic follow up appointments, and how to process incoming telephone calls. Wednesday, May 29th, 1:00pm – 3:00pm in FOB 1302 *Medical Records This class is for Medical Records staff. You will learn to use the Chart Tracking module in PCIS. You will also gain an overview of scheduling, follow-up appointments, how to update patient information, and the Clinical Desktop. *PCIS View Only You will learn the basics of navigating PCIS, how to search for and personalize daily schedules, retrieve patient demographic information, and locate documents within the patient’s electronic chart *Provider Training This class is for Physicians, Fellows and Residents. You will learn to navigate PCIS, work with and personalize daily schedules, retrieve patient demographic information, and locate documents within the patient’s electronic chart. You will also learn how to enter patient information, order medications, add problems, and view results. *Computerized Physician Order Entry (CPOE) You will learn how to electronically placing patient orders via CPOE, or computerized physician order entry, so that your orders are communicated via computer network to the clinical staff, pharmacy, laboratory, or radiology department. *Meaningful Use This class describes in detail the measurements that need to be documented, by the provider and clinical staff, to meet the Meaningful use criteria. These criteria must be met to qualify for the EHR Incentive program. Sign up today and learn how items such as ePrescribe, electronic ordering/results, etc. help meet these standards. *Call Process/Tasking This class offers training on processing and documenting patient calls in PCIS. You will learn how to task calls to other staff members and/or clinical groups while storing information in the patient’s chart. *Coder - TES Charge Entry & TES Workfiles This class is for Revenue Cycle Coding and Department Liaison Services (DLS). You will learn to enter charges, balance charge batches, access TES Workfiles and process TES edits in PCIS. This training will also teach you to navigate throughout the system and view patient and other pertinent system information. *Department Administrator This class is designed for administrative staff. You will learn how to access PCIS, navigate throughout the system, view patient information, and print system reports. *Financial Specialist This class is for Revenue Cycle Financial Specialists. You will learn to view and edit patient registration and insurance information in PCIS. You will also learn how to access PCIS, navigate throughout the system, and view patient information and other pertinent system information. Front Desk Revenue Cycle Front Desk staff will learn to update patient registration information, arrive patient appointments, and perform patient check out activities in PCIS. You will also learn how to access PCIS, navigate throughout the system, and view patient information and other pertinent system information. Monday, June 3rd, 8:30am – 4:00pm in FOB 1301 Monday, June 10th, 8:30am – 4:00pm in FOB 1301 *Payment Posting Revenue Cycle Payment Posting staff will learn to enter and post patient payments, insurance payments, post refunds, and balance batches in PCIS. You will also learn how to access PCIS, navigate throughout the system, and view patient information and other pertinent system information. *RCO Staff - A/R Follow Up Revenue Cycle staff will learn to work patient and insurance outstanding balances through the Paperless Collection System (PCS) in PCIS. You will also learn how to access PCIS, navigate throughout the system, and view patient information and other pertinent system information. *Registration Pre-Arrival Registration staff will learn to access and navigate throughout the Web Framework, enter and edit patient registration and insurance information, and view patient appointments in PCIS. *Scheduler Session I Scheduling staff will learn to register and update patient demographics and insurance information. In this course, you will master basic appointment schedulin. Thursday, May 30th, 8:30am – 4:00pm in FOB 1303 *RCO Websites This class is to be taken in conjunction with the Financial Specialist class. You will learn how to navigate the Availity, United Healthcare, Avmed, Tricare, and Emdeon websites for registration verification and claims and authorization management. *Scheduler Session II Scheduling staff will learn advanced Scheduling features, including cancelling and rescheduling appointments, overbooking appointments, adding time to a provider schedule, etc. (This course is mandatory for all current and new Scheduling staff who need PCIS access. It should be taken one week after Scheduler Session I)
Thursday, June 6th, 8:30am – 4:00pm in FOB 1303 Other Unit4/ CODA Procurement Entry The Procurement Entry training course will teach users to process and manage requisitions/purchase orders in the Unit4/Coda Procurement system. You will learn to access and navigate throughout the system, as well as view and modify requisitions/purchase orders. This course is mandatory for all new users requiring access to the Unit4/Coda Procurement system. Peri-Op for ASC Peri-op is the software application used in the Ambulatory Surgery Center during surgery. This application is utilized in all phases of care including Pre-op, intra-op and post-op. If you work in an area that utilizes this application schedule a class with us today. IT Overview for USFPG New Hires All newly-hired employees of the USF Health Physicians group should take this class. You will gain a basic overview of the information technology (IT) infrastructure and the software we use. You will learn how to log in to the correct network, lock and log off your workstation, add printers, save documents, and use Microsoft Outlook. This course will also cover simple trouble-shooting techniques for common IT problems faced by employees. This course is part of the USFPG New Hire Orientation held every Monday. * These classes can also be requested as Training on the Go where we come to you. As a SharePoint Site Administrator, you will have full control over the look and layout of your SharePoint site. You will be able to customize and manage your site to your specific needs. In this class, you will learn to use permissions to manage who can access your sites, add and remove web parts, view usage data, and much more in order to manage your 2010 SharePoint site.
