Desktop Computer Standards

The minimum PC standard specifies the level a machine must meet to be eligible for on-site hardware support.  These standards are for machines used for personal/office productivity, e.g. general network access, e-mail, word processing, database, or information handling, and are intended to encourage retirement and replacement of antiquated equipment.  Machines used in a dedicated research capacity, e.g. as controllers or data collection points for scientific equipment are exempt.

Desktop Computers

We recommend the Dell OptiPlex business line of computers.

This computer has the processing ability to provide for efficient  use of word processing, email, presentation creation, database processing, basic to mid-level graphics manipulation, and most basic to mid-level statistical processing.

Laptop Computers

We recommend the Dell Latitude "D Series" and "E Series" business line of laptop computers.
