Desktop Computer Standards

The minimum PC standard specifies the level a machine must meet to be eligible for on-site hardware support.  These standards are for machines used for personal/office productivity, e.g. general network access, e-mail, word processing, database, or information handling, and are intended to encourage retirement and replacement of antiquated equipment.  Machines used in a dedicated research capacity, e.g. as controllers or data collection points for scientific equipment are exempt.

Notes: The options listed are those about which we are most commonly asked.  The list is not comprehensive and additional options are listed on the Dell Web site for each of these systems.  Desktop systems will need a keyboard, mouse, , etc.  Notebook systems will need a carrying case and may need other options.   Each of these systems offer various processor options; those listed are the recommended minimums.
