Mobile Device Policy and Configuration


It is the policy of USF and USF Physician's group that all mobile devices must use Mobile Device management (MDM) software to protect Patient Privacy, standardize configurations, maintain an inventory of mobile devices, and to quickly deploy applications and settings to mobile devices. We use MDM software to provide you with full control of your MDM environment. This will allow you to have reports on your mobile equipment that includes IP addresses, machine specifications, apps installed, and other information that can uniquely identify the device. The software enables the USF Health Network to remove any company information once the equipment is retired, stolen, or re-purposed to a different area to safeguard USF Health proprietary information. USF and USFPG have different policies on mobile device management software.

How to Request this Service

The software is installed on all mobile devices purchased with USFPG funds when they are delivered and setup by Health Information Systems. For state purchased computers the individual departments have to have the software customized to meet their business needs. Submit a service request via the customer portal or via email in order to request assistance with obtaining this service.


In most cases the software is installed by default when the device arrives for setup at Information Systems. For departments who want to increase the level of asset management the software costs $50 per device to license.There is currently no recurring cost for the license at this time. Bulk purchase rates are offered by the vendor.


All Departmentally purchased Mobile Devices are mandated to have Airwatch installed, although the security level my change based on department needs.


The client runs in the background at all times once installed. This service is available during normal business hours for USF Health Information Systems Monday – Friday 8:00am – 5:00pm. This service can be requested at any time, and all service requests entered after business hours will be worked on the next business day.


The software is monitored by the central management console, and any issues with the system are sent to Health IS system administrators. If you are experiencing any issues on the device itself please contact the Health IS service desk through our customer portal at, where you can chat with a technician or enter a service request. Any after hour requests for service will be worked on the next business day.

Options for this Service

There are no additional options at this time. Mobile Device management is required by both USF and USF Physician’s group procedures, and the only adjustment may be the security level of the software.
