Policy Statement

 

The University of South Florida (the University/USF) and the Designated Institutional Officer (“DIO”) will ensure the continuity of training of medical residents in the event of a disaster. The University will provide adequate resources, including adequate financial and administrative support, for the continuity of resident education in the event of a disaster.  In the event that the University is unable to provide for continuity of training of medical residents in the event of a disaster, the University will meet the ACGME requirements.

Resident/medical student                       Follows emergency policies and procedures of the                                                                     University and its hospital affiliates; follows

instructions and meets scheduled assignments

during and after the emergency per directives from Program Director, DIO/GME Office or designated supervisors including attendings, and Program Directors. Residents and medical students must check in with supervisors/attendings/Program Director within a reasonable amount of time after the emergency. Resident/medical students must check the GME Office page on the USF web site; the appropriate Review Committee Executive Director and the ACGME web site for information or other provided means of communication.

 

 

Dean/COM or Associate Dean/GME   Communicates emergency and post emergency

                                                            instructions and assignments via the GME Office

Web page on the University’s web site and via USF               email or in any manner technologically possible. Implements GME emergency procedures relating to financial and administrative support of programs in order to effectively continue the education of residents and meet ACGME requirements.
