Neck Lift

What is a Neck Lift?

Neck lifts address the skin below the jawline. Whether you are dealing with excess skin, lines or fat, a neck lift can rejuvenate your neck. This procedure can include the removal of excess skin, altering the neck muscles or removal of excess fat deposits on the neck.

Who is a good candidate for a Neck Lift?

Candidates should be in good health and have realistic expectations for the procedure. If you have excess loose skin or fat around your neck, a neck lift procedure can help restore definition to your neck and jaw. A neck lift is commonly combined with a facelift, eyelid lift or other cosmetic procedures to restore youthfulness around the face. Talk to your USF Health Plastic Surgeon during your initial consultation to determine the best option for you.

How are Neck Lifts performed?

After you have been given anesthesia, your plastic surgeon will make an incision beneath your chin. Through this incision, your surgeon will tighten neck muscles and remove excess fat from the neck. The skin will then be re-draped over the neck and your surgeon will cut off any excess skin before closing your incision with sutures.

Most of the time a neck dressing stays in place for a couple days. A tight garment is also commonly used post operatively.
