Male Breast Reduction
What is Male Breast Reduction?
The male breast reduction surgery reduces enlarged male breasts, also known as gynecomastia. This surgery removes fat and glandular tissue (and in extreme cases, skin) to restore a more masculine-looking chest.
Who is a good candidate for Male Breast Reduction?
Good candidates are adult men who are in good heath without any pre-existing medical conditions or risk factors for surgery. Those who are at a stable weight, do not smoke, and have firm, elastic skin that will adapt to the new contours of the body may be offered this procedure.
How is the procedure performed?
The procedure is performed under general anesthesia. You and your surgeon will determine the best technique for your case. Options include removal of tissue from beneath the breast or liposuction of the chest wall. In both procedures, a small incision in made on lower half of the areola. During liposuction, a small tub called a cannula is inserted into the incision to remove excess fat from the chest.
