The University of South Florida unveiled a new Alzheimer's center on Thursday with a high-tech PET scanner on one side, a mini apartment on the other and cozy living room at the center.
 
Tampa, FL (Nov. 9, 2011)– Using innovative techniques for unbiased counting of brain cells, Peter R. Mouton, PhD, of the USF Health Byrd Alzheimer’s Institute and a diverse team of researchers have confirmed a new theory about a cause of autism.

Optimism in the battle against Alzheimer's.
The institute hosted a press conference about Alzheimer’s disease and the new drugs that are in the pipeline. Fox News posted the story. 

National Memory Screening Day was hosted by the Institute November 16th. More than 180 participants received free memory screenings by a qualified clinican, blood pressure checks and medication review by a pharmacist.

Throughout the months of October and Novemebr, the Institute participated in multiple Memory Walks sponsored by the Alzheimer's Association throughout the greater Tampa bay region.
