Health Preceptor Opportunities in the Tampa Bay Area

About the Program & Services

The USF AHEC Program and its centers coordinate clinical training opportunities at community-based sites for health professions students. The AHEC sites bring health disparities to life for students, who see first-hand the needs of uninsured and underinsured patients. The key component to a successful rotation for our students is a willing, committed and inspiring preceptor.

We have many providers – with the values and commitment to work in underserved communities – providing the kind of comprehensive primary care that makes a difference in the lives of people in rural and inner-city areas. Our hope is that our preceptors will make an impact and influence our health professions students to carry that enthusiasm with them once they graduate, and practice as doctors, nurses, dentists and public health professionals in the areas where they are most needed.

We offer valuable programs and services to retain our preceptors in medically underserved communities. We support you by providing resources such as:

For more information about becoming a preceptor, in Citrus, Hernando, Hillsborough, Pinellas and Pasco counties, visit Gulfcoast North AHEC or in Charlotte, Desoto, Manatee and Sarasota counties, visit Gulfcoast South AHEC.
