 July 9th: Hope Lodge Patriotic Dessert Party  

Our USF Health students in  the colleges of  Public Health, Nursing and the Graduate Programs in Biomedical Sciences provided  delectable  desserts for our annual summer dessert party  at the Hope Lodge.  In addition,  the premedical AMSA students led a  lively bingo game.  We look forward to continuing this Service Corps- Premed AMSA AM partnership  in future events to bring cheer to the residents at the ACS Benjamin Mendick Hope Lodge, who are being treated for cancer at Moffitt and other hospitals.

 July 11th

Shriner’s Camp Care A Lot Carnival 

Energetic  public health, nursing, and physical therapy students had a great time  with the children participating in the  week-long  Shriner’s Camp Care A Lot  at  the Rotary Camp Florida in Brandon.

  July 12th

Healthy Summer Picnic in the Park for Farmworkers Self-Help Teen Dream Group in Dade City

Our public health, nursing, medical, pharmacy  and premedical students teamed  up to create a  late afternoon picnic  for Farmworkers Self Help! 

Our students had an amazing game of soccer with the FSH youth  and helped the children and teens create their own t-shirts with a healthy theme. In addition, the children and their parents were able to select clothing,  shoes, games hygiene items and other gifts from  the  Christmas in July 'store'  which was made possible through the USF Health Service Corps  summer collection drive . And finally,  everyone enjoyed a healthy  hotdog  picnic together !

July 17thFun Fitness & Nutrition Learning Activities with the Refugee Youth Services Summer Camp

Our graduate and undergraduate  student volunteers with the College of Public Health  led  teen refugees from Africa, Cuba, Iraq and Burma in a nutrition and fitness  lesson, made healthy trail mix snacks, and enjoyed soccer, hula hoop, and jump rope together.

         July 19th:  Health Fair at Lazy Days RV Park, Seffner   


Our medical and nursing  students had a wonderful time volunteering together during  our annual Service Corps health fair  for the employees and guests at this popular RV park.

July 30th: International Day of Friendship !


 Our international students from the Colleges of Public Health and Pharmacy shared their

enthusiasm for their health careers with high school students participating in the Refugee

Youth Services summer  program!

Back to School Health Fairs, Summer 2013


Once again, our USF Health students contributed to a number of back to school health fairs for children, including a back to school health fair on August 3rd  (Lee  Davis Community Center) and three different back to school health fairs on August  17th (Webb MS, Eisenhower MS, and Bethesda Ministries)

September 4thOccupational Health & Safety Fair for Johnson Controls Employees

Our Sunshine ERC students contributed to our first Service Corps-Sunshine ERC occupational health and safety health fair at Johnson Controls, which is a leading supplier of lead acid batteries for cars and other vehicles.

 September 5th: Second Bulls Walk and Bike Week Event at the College of Public Health

USF Health student volunteers teamed up with university and community partners to share helpful tips about staying safe on the road  during this FUN and interactive bicycle and pedestrian safety awareness event!

Tools for Schools Collection Drive 2013


Our  annual Tools for Schools drive, which is a partnership between  the USF Health Service CorpsUSF Center for Leadership and Civic Engagement  (CLCE) and  University Area Community Development Corporation  (UACDC)  was once again a success! Together, we  collected more than 50 bags of new  school supplies from  boxes throughout USF Health and the main  USF campus. The teachers  from the  local elementary schools  will then be able to  visit the UACDC to select free school supplies for their classrooms and students.

 September 16th: Mexican Independence Day Health Fair and Fiesta 


This event was  a true collaboration between our USF Health Service Corps student volunteers, our outstanding USF Health clinical supervisors,  Farmworkers Self Help in Dade City, Prevent Blindness Florida  as well as many other community partners who contributed valuable resources to this event.   While the pharmacy, nursing and medical students assisted with the health screenings and health education for adults, our COPH and pre-health professional  students taught children just how much fun it can be to stay healthy and safe!

 September 20th:  Gardening Service Day


Our USF Health Service Corps volunteers teamed up with the Tampa Bay Refugee Task Force to volunteer at a healthy garden oasis where refugees can grow healthy fruits & vegetables.

September 21th:  Passport to Safety Event at the Mall !


Our medical, nursing  and pre-health professional student volunteers helped to teach children about staying health and safe, by guiding them through a  'Passport to Safety' fair at the mall. This event was truly a successful collaboration between the USF Health Service Corps,

St Joseph's Children's Hospital and Safe  Kids Tampa !
