This website includes photos of USF students engaged in our USF Health Service Corps events during the Summer Semester 2012. This website is a 'work in progress', whereby new photos are added as successful Service Corps events are completed throughout the semester. As you view these photos, you will notice the interdisciplinary nature of these events, with students in all of our USF Health academic programs, as well as pre-health professional students, learning, serving and having lots of fun together!

June 25th - Panel Discussion on Health Careers for High School Students
Students from the Colleges of Medicine, Pharmacy and Public Health shared their academic and professional experiences, as well as their enthusiasm, with rising 10th and 11th graders attending the sum

June 27th - Pre-Fourth of July Dessert Party at the Hope Lodge
An enthusiastic group of students from the COPH, COM and the COM graduate school brought great cheer, conversation, and delicious desserts to our friends at the American Cancer Society Benjamin Mendick Hope Lodge on the USF campus !

_____________________________________________________________________________________________July 12th - Dr. Oz 15 Minute Physicals at Florida Hospital Tampa
On July 12th, more than 50 USF students from the Colleges of Medicine, Nursing, Public Health, Pharmacy and Arts and Sciences, as well as USF CON and COM clinical faculty and USF COM residents, all pitched in to this amazing community health event !

July 12th - Shriners Camp Care A Lot Carnival
On the same day, an enthusiastic group of students from the College of Public Health and College of Medicine Graduate School led the carnival for the super kids attending Camp Care A Lot !

Refugee Youth and Family Program Summer Camp
On July 18th, our COPH graduate and undergraduate students led FUN interactive fitness and nutrition health education activities for super kids from Burma, Africa, Iraq, and Cuba.

______________________________________________________________________________________________July 27th - Fantastic Friday Nite Picnic with Farmworkers Self-Help!
Students from the COPH and COM contributed to fitness and crafts activities with the kids from Farmworkers Self-Help (FSH) in Dade City. We were also able to see the new teen center and learn about future opportunities for collaboration between the Service Corps and FSH!

August 4th - Summer Spruce Up Project
We returned to the Miracle Outreach Group Home in East Tampa, and continued our previous successful project which we had initiated in May, see Spruce Up & Story .

August 11th- Back to School Health Fair at South Shore Community Resource Center in Ruskin.
In collaboration with the Back to School Coalition of Hillsborough County, our Service Corps volunteers led FUN safety and literacy activities for children in the community health education area while medical and nursing students participated in the Back to School 'checkups'.

August 11th -Summer Safety Fair at Glazer Children’s Museum
What fun! We taught kids about hand washing, safety, nutrition, and staying healthy in the St. Joseph’s Children’s Hospital exhibit area!

August 11-12: All About Kids Back to School Bash at Florida State Fairgrounds
In collaboration with St. Joseph’s Children’s Hospital Child Advocacy Center/Safe Kids Tampa, our amazing Service Corps volunteers led the bike/pedestrian safety education stations.

Tools for Schools Drive: July - August, 2012
This was one of our most successful Tools for Schools Drives yet, in terms of the quantity of supplies donated and also student participation !
These school supplies were distributed to the children who come to the Back to School health fair at the University Area Community Health Center on Saturday, and our USF medical and nursing students participated in this Service Corps health fair.

September 6th - Bulls Walk and Bike Week at the College of Public Health
Over 25 medical and public health students, as well as other USF students, staff and community partners, served as enthusiastic volunteers during this important bicycle and pedestrian safety awareness event.

September 15th: Health Fair and Fiesta at Farmworkers Self Help in Dade City
What a fun and interdisciplinary event !
An enthusiastic group of over 40 students and faculty from the Colleges of Pharmacy, Medicine, Nursing, Public Health and the Graduate School contributed to the health screenings for adults and interactive educational activities for kids !
