This website includes photos of USF students engaged in our USF Health Service Corps events during the Spring Semester 2012. This website is a 'work in progress', whereby new photos are added as successful Service Corps events are completed throughout the semester. In looking through these photos, you will notice the interdisciplinary and multifaceted nature of these events, with students in all of our USF Health academic programs, as well as pre-health professional students, learning, serving and having fun together!

January 26th - Baking Bread with Seniors & Students
Our USF Health students had fun baking (and eating!) Challah (a special braided bread) with the seniors at

January 28th - Manatee Villages Health Fair
Our medical and nursing students participated in the clinical screenings for adults...

and our pharmacy students provided health education for adults on medication and food safety...

and our pre-health professional and pharmacy students led the Passport to Safety and fitness activities for kids!

Teaching in the Schools
On January 30th, eight medical students in the Dermatology Interest Group shared their enthusiasm and expertise about skin cancer prevention with over 150 students at both Benito Middle School and Terrace Community Middle School!

February 21st - Geico Road Safety Bicycle Tour
One of our COPH undergraduate volunteers helped with the first Geico Road Safety Bicycle Tour at USF.

and we also partnered with Florida Department of Transportation on their distracted driving game.

February 22nd - Health Fair for the Seasonal Workers at Tampa Bay Downs
This was quite a successful and multi-disciplinary USF Health Service Corps health fair!
Our COM students in the Student Interest Group in Ophthalmology (SIGIO) led the vision screenings....
and our pharmacy students discussed medication safety...
while our medical students performed the blood sugar and blood cholesterol screenings...
and a public health student provided valuable health education ...
and our Physical Therapy students provided valuable strength and posture assessments and health education !

February 25th - National Eating Disorders Association Walk
Our energetic and dedicated College of Public Health team contributed to this walk to raise awareness and funds to prevent eating disorders. Together, we raised $650, and special thanks to Ms. Allison Oberne, MPH, CPH, and her undergraduate class at the USF College of Public Health!

In addition, our USF Health Service Corps volunteers also contributed to the USF Children's Festival on March 3rd, and we offered three FUN interactive learning activity stations for kids, led by our College of Public Health, Pharmacy and Medical students!

March 23rd - Fitness and Fun Picnic at Riverfront Park
for Farmworkers Self Help Teen Dream Group!
We had a blast helping the kids create a poison safety poster ....
and we also played volleyball and other sports with the kids!

March 31st - Community Health Fair at
This was definitely an interdisciplinary health fair, with student volunteers from the Colleges of Nursing, Medicine, Pharmacy, and Public Health!

April 3rd - Benito Middle School Health Fair !
What a winning combination!
Enthusiastic students from Benito MS....

and expert university and community partners with the USF Center for Urban Transportation Research, Florida Department of Transportation, and Hillsborough County Health Department !

April 3rd - Give Life Day at the COPH
Members of the USF community helped to 'give life'... by donating blood at the Florida Blood Services bloodmobile, registering for the National Marrow Donor Program (NMDP), and signing up to be an organ, tissue and/or eye donor, through Donate Life Florida.

April 5th - Hope Lodge Spring Fling Picnic!
Our USF Health Service Corps volunteers from the Colleges of Public Health, Medicine and Pharmacy had a great time enjoying desserts with the Hope Lodge residents... and even learning how to play Chinese Checkers!

Our energetic USF Health Service Corps volunteers made a positive difference by painting a house in Ybor City for someone who otherwise would not have been able to afford this home improvement project!

May 12th - Spruce Up Project at the Miracles Outreach Fresh Start Residential Group Home!
We painted and gardened all day long, to give a face lift to this house... and to help the girls residing at this home to feel extra special!
