October 9th - Give Life Day at the College of Public Health



Did you know?
17 students from the Colleges of Public Health, Pharmacy and Medicine (MD and graduate programs) served as friendly and professional volunteers....
33 people donated blood (on the Florida Blood Services bloodmobile), 60 people registered for the National Marrow Donor Program and 4 people registered for Donate Life Florida!

October 16th - Health Screenings at USF Human Resources Benefits Fair
25 students and 2 COM and CON faculty from the Colleges of Nursing and Medicine contributed to this annual screening event !

October 19th - College of Public Health Flu Shot Drive



Did you know?
This year, 1122 adults from USF and our local community benefited from the Flu Shot Drive.
57 enthusiastic COPH student volunteers helped with the key aspects of refreshments, registration, meet and greet, and health education exhibits,
27 medical and nursing students volunteers from the COM & CON skillfully administered
the flu shots, andUSF Health clinical faculty and Hillsborough County Health Department nurses provided clinical supervision.

Sunday, October 21st - Telemundo's La Ferua De La Familia (Family Event) at Tampa Convention Center
This was definitely a successful team effort! Our USF medical and nursing students assisted Saint Joseph’s Hospital with the blood pressure and blood sugar screenings for adults and BMI screenings for children (under supervision of USF Health clinical faculty).....
while our students in the College of Public Health, College of Pharmacy and College of Medicine Graduate Program in Biomedical Sciences assisted with the Saint Joseph’s Children’s Hospital Children's Advocacy Center safety and fitness activities for children !

Sunday, November 4th - Health Screenings at Central Florida Military Resource Fair at Raymond James Stadium
The VA nursing team invited the Service Corps to participate in this important event, and five of our CON students provided valuable BP screening services to veterans attending this resource fair.

Saturday, November 10th: Step Out for Diabetes Walk on the USF Campus
Our medical and nursing students performed blood pressure and diabetes foot checks while a public health graduate student led the health education station at this fun community event.

Saturday, November 10th - American Heart Association’s Tampa Bay Start! Heart Walk at the Raymond James Stadium
A few of our energetic walkers on the Public Health is Your Health team are pictured below.... and our other USF Health student teams included 'Prescription Strength' and 'Bull Nurses'.
Once again, our public health graduate and undergraduate students worked together on a creative and healthy fund-raiser to support the AHA !

Sunday, November 11th - Health Fair at the Thai Temple in Tampa
This was another successful and fun team effort, with the health screenings performed by medical students and interpreting provided by one of our public health student volunteers.

Great American Teach In and Other Fall Teaching Events!
Our USF Health students shared their expertise and enthusiasm for their respective disciplines of public health, nursing, medicine, pharmacy and biomedical research, as they led interactive learning activities for elementary middle and high school students in 14 different schools!
In this photo, a COPH students shared his home-made black light apparatus that he created to convince middle school students of the importance of hand washing to prevent transmission of diseases....

In this photo, the pharmacy students are asking middle school students to guess 'which is candy' and 'which is medicine' ....

And in this photo, the nursing students are telling middle school students all about the myriad of exciting opportunities in a variety of nursing subspecialties.
