This website provides photos of our students engaged in our USF Health Service Corps events between September 2011-December, 2011. In looking through these photos, you will notice both the interdisciplinary, creative and multifaceted nature of these events, with students learning and serving together and making a positive difference in our local community.

On Saturday, September 10th, we held our fall
Service Corps picnic for our friends with the Farmworkers Self Help Teen Dream Group at USF

On September 23rd, an enthusiastic group of COPH, CON and COM students
contributed to a
fall safety and fitness event for families in the Sulphur Springs area.
This event was planned and implemented in collaboration with Sulphur Springs Elementary school, the YMCA and St Joseph's Children's Hospital Child Advocacy Department.

And on September 30th, we implemented a
Service Corps fun fitness event for kids
in an apartment complex in the local area!

On October 1st, a number of our graduate Physical therapy and public health students, as well as undergrad pre-PT and COPH students, participated in
The F.A.I.R.: Family Abilities Information Rally - A Cross Disabilities Event
at
Our USF students led children in variety of fun activities, including bowling, hula hoops,
hopscotch, a tobacco education game and even a handwashing collage!

This year, on November 4th, we initiated a creative new project, in which we collaborated
with Hillsborough Kids,Inc. and we created
healthy holiday gift bags for teens in foster care!
We also learned a great deal about foster care from a licensed social worker.
This was a fun and valuable service learning project, and we hope to partner with
Hillsboorugh Kids in the future.

Here is another first!
Our USF Health Service Corps was invited to participate in the December 2nd
Tampa Bay Tech HS Health Expo !
Our Pharmacy, medicine, public health and PT students taught the enthusiastic HS
students about health issues and health careers in 5 neat 'stations' -
a public health game, a tobacco prevention ball toss, a distracted driving bean bag toss,
and and ask the health professionals to be stations.

The American Heart Walk!

This year, the COPH was able to raise additional funds through a creative incentive
whereby people donated cash to the American Heart Assocation in exchange for free
muffins provided by Sweet Tomatoes restaurant.
