This website provides photos of our students engaged in a number of our fall 2010 semester USF Health Service Corps events. In looking through these photos, you will notice both the interdisciplinary, and multifaceted nature of these events, with students learning and serving together, in a number of capacities, at the different service events! COPH and COM students contributed to the Ruskin Health Fair and Family Fiesta on September 18th, in collaboration with Catholic Mobile Medical Services and Safe Kids and our med students helped with the health screenings, and the COPH and COM grad students helped with the bike rodeo and helmet fitting!

October 2nd was a busy day for the Service Corps !

and public health and physical therapy students led kids in fitness activities at the FAIR (Family Abilities Information Rally) Cross Disabilities Event at All

and on October 16th, our COM, CON and COPH students led kids in fun safety education, nutrition education and fitness activities in the Fall Safety Fest with Safe Kids at the
North Tampa Family Support and Resource Center!

On October 22nd, we held our annual COPH /Service Corps Flu Shot Day at the COPH in collaboration with the HCHD…featuring flu shots administered by our nursing and medical students and health education displays led by COPH students !

On November 7th, our USF Health students participated in an interdisciplinary USF Health Service Corps health fair and fitness event at Manatee Villages in Ruskin, which is a housing development for farmworkers and their families....

November and December were both busy months for teaching, with more than 75 USF Health students participating in teaching and mentoring events targeted to youth,
including the Great American Teach In....

and a new program at USF health on Nov 10th for the high school students in the YMCA Teen Achievers program!
First, the high school students were able to learn about careers in occupational health and safety during their lab tours with our COPH industrial hygiene students. Moreover, the high school students were able to learn about neat research service and teaching projects from a variety of student speakers from COM, CON and COPH!

We brought joy to community members of all ages during a number of special FALL holiday Service Corps events…..
starting with a Halloween masquerade ball for seniors at
October 28th….

and a post-Thanksgiving dinner party for residents at the American Cancer Center Benjamin Mendick Hope Lodge on November 30th….


and the Faces of Courage Annual Santa’s Workshop Weekend, Dec 3rd-4th, in which USF Health students brought cheer to children who have been touched by cancer, at Rotary’s Camp Florida in Brandon.

And finally, our students participated in a number of fundraising events, including the Passionately pink for the Cure bake sales, Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk and the American Heart Walk, as pictured below!
