The Center sponsors conferences that feature nationally and internationally known experts in end-of-life and palliative care, and provide opportunities for Center members and other participants to showcase their research in competitive research paper and poster sessions.
The first symposium celebrated the formal opening of The Center on April 11, 2002, and was entitled, "Partners in Caring: Advancing end of Life Research, Policy & Practice." Nearly 200 participants attended the conference which featured nationally known leaders in the field as well as a research day.
"Charting the Course in End-of-Life Care: From Research toPolicy and Practice" was held November 6, 2003, and was supported in part by a grant from the Agency for Healthcare research and Quality (1R13 HSO 14416).

"Building Bridges: Interdisciplinary Paths to Palliative & End-of-Life Care for People with Diverse Conditions" was held October 27-28, 2006.
"Quality & Meaning at the End of Life: Practice,Research & Policy" was held March 3-4, 2005. Two pre-conference workshops: "Process Interventions for the Grief Therapist: A Meaning Reconstruction Approach," featuring Robert Neimeyer, PhD, University of Memphis; and "Designing a Descriptive or Exploratory Research Project," featuring Susan McMillan, PhD, RN, FAAN, USF.
